CHESS is a small charity which has given help and support to hundreds of homeless people since it was launched 21 years ago. They try and stretch their resources as far as they will go and are constantly balancing the risks posed by increasing drug and alcohol use, against the need to keep as many people as they are able to help, in a safe and secure environment. They have opened a new refuge in London Road, Chelmsford with 30 beds which are available throughout the year, funding is still needed for this project. They also provide outreach serviceswhich contacts homeless people and helps them before they have been on the streets too long, and offer 10 bed spaces on our Winter Project, as respite from the ravages of cold weather. Finally they have also started a landscaping business and have helped people obtain employment that had enabled them to start their journey to independence. https://ascem9toru.nimpr.uk/our-charity-support/
