Free PPE for Health and Social Care extended until 2022

Care sector set to receive free PPE until March 2022 following Government announcement

With the global pandemic still ongoing, the extension of free PPE to health and social care providers has been gratefully received. The Government confirmed the extension as the usage of PPE equipment is expected to remain high throughout the next financial year.

To protect the health and wellbeing of health and social workers, as well as their patients and clients, the Government says the continued provision ordered from the Government website will ensure frontline workers can access rigorously tested and high-quality PPE.

The additional free PPE will support the Government’s planned roadmap out of lockdown, whilst the vaccine programme continues to be rolled out across the nation.

In a press release by Care England Professor Martin Green OBE, Chief Executive of Care England, says:

"PPE is one of the main barriers in a care setting to limiting the spread of COIVD-19, thus Care England is pleased that the Government has listened to its pleas for an extension to free PPE as it will help protect some of society's most vulnerable as well as our staff  at the frontline"

Guidance on how to access the PPE Portal can be found here.

Another form of protection your care business can greatly benefit from is the inclusion of Covid-19 on your care home policy. Many insurers have added exclusions, potentially leaving your care home exposed. Ascend are pleased to work with industry-leading insurers allowing our clients the peace of mind that their businesses, employees and service users are covered.
