Ascend are proud to announce our new charity of the year: Kids Inspire

We are delighted to announce that Kids Inspire (registered charity number 1129513) will be our Charity of the Year for the remainder of 2021, and 2022. Ascend will be raising money in aid of Kids Inspire through various fundraising efforts, from taking part in physical challenges, adrenaline packed fundraisers, fundraising events and also attending events held by the charity itself. The target set by Ascend is £3,000, with all staff members looking to get on board. Kids Inspire, based locally to Ascend in Chelmsford, provide mental health and trauma recovery support for children, young people and their families through a range of therapeutic and community activities, promoting resilience, self-awareness, and relationship building to empower more positive life choices. The founder of Kids Inspire, Sue Bell, identified the lack of support for children who are victims of distress, abuse and neglect as a key issue and proved that these children could have a positive intervention before they engaged in criminal or dangerous activities from the result of previous traumas.

Impact

Kids Inspire has been running for over 13 years and has so far provided intensive therapy to 1,163 individuals, 1635 family members have benefited from the treatment plans and there are a total number of 2,797 service users.

Head of Ascend’s charity division and a member of our charity committee, Stuart Belbin, added the following:

“Having grown up within various community youth clubs and volunteering at them as an adult, it is refreshing to hear the support Kids Inspire are providing for early intervention, as well as working with those who have complex cases and severe trauma. So often, the help doesn’t come to those children until it is too late - after the child has been convicted of a crime, engaged in self harm or other risky behaviours such as alcohol and substance abuse. We as a team cannot wait to begin fundraising and supporting a local and worthy charity, not only doing great work in our community, but also further afield.” For case studies showcasing just how Kids Inspire are making a difference please CLICK HERE.
