Ascend begin fundraising for The Belsteads RDA

Ascend are delighted to support The Belsteads RDA, a local charity based in Chelmsford providing disabled children in the local community the opportunity to learn to ride and interact with horses.

The Belsteads School is situated within 11 acres of paddocks and links directly to a 150-acre nature reserve. The curriculum will take advantage of this countryside setting to deliver onsite Forest School experiences and regular outdoor learning opportunities in the full range of subjects. A neighbouring golf centre will provide opportunities for the pupils to further develop physical, communication and life skills within a safe and accessible community setting. Our Charity Support The school has excellent horse riding facilities on site and will deliver a range of sensory and physical experiences for pupils looking after and riding the horses. The school is a  registered Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) centre providing opportunities for the wider community to become involved with horses and the school. In addition to working with horses, the school will be developing a working smallholding to enable pupils the opportunity to take their learning outside the classroom and really bring it to life. Our Charity Support Eddie Carter from Ascend saw the amount of hard-work that goes in to the charity. “I can see how the children enjoy the site and facilities they have here and have noticed how the volunteers really care about the young people”. Eddie also noticed how the young people enjoy the lessons and stimulate the rider which is great for their personal development. Eddie added “It’s a brilliant idea to use Horse Riding to help these young people within our community. The facilities provided are great and you can sense the young people enjoy it here and feel safe in the group. “

We will be donating £50 for each referral that we secure to the charity throughout the remainder of 2019.
